BOO!

A pic from one of my favorite scary movies of all time, HALLOWEEN staring Jamie Lee Curtis. It was brilliant on so many levels...lighting and mood were key. I am sure it will be on T.V tonite...for all you ghouls and goblins and TROLLS going out...Have a safe and fun one tonite!!! I just want the damn chocolates and candy!

SADDLE UP!

Last week, Kelly Klein launched her new book Horse from Rizzoli at the Hermes store. Even if you haven't ridden a horse in your life, you'll drool over the photos by Bruce Weber, Helmet Newton, Annie Leibowitz, Robert Mapplethorpe and more. Check it out.

GROUPIES!

I LOVE group shot photos, especially if everyone is doing their thing and giving you the look! They are great in way because it really shows your friends, family and partners in crime, all in one shot, all together. I would compare their visual impact to a curtain call on stage, the credits after a movie, the cascade of models on the runway at the end of a fashion show. Its just the energy and tight formations thru a tiny viewfinder on your camera that's really thrilling. But perhaps the best part is the moment you have almost everyone you love all around you, all right there for perhaps just a moment in time in this fast, crazy and here now, gone tomorrow world of ours.  MAKE IT HAPPEN.  MAKE IT MOMENTOUS. YOURS!

YES WE HAVE!

YES, ABC IS FOR OBAMA!
The Obama section features the very popular cotton bags, jewelry (very popular, above), pillows, bumper stickers, his book and even some chairs! SO...I will say this once, GO VOTE YA ALL! This one really matters. It will be my first time, so kinda looking forward to getting into that kitty-kat booth, to do the deed! Lets see what happens...YES WE CAN!

AFRICA AT ABC

Africa is the new look at ABC Home in New York City as it travels to its fascinating, tribal and mysterious lands. Paulette Cole, creative and chief operating officer, went to many different parts of this great continent this past summer and bought back some beautiful and unique items to sell and display in the legendary store. Hand-made baskets, textiles, pillows, pottery, masks as well as some smaller furniture items are all intermixed with other modern design pieces. The life-size dolls that hang as you come into the store are from a museum in South Africa and are shown here for the first time in the United States. All of this leads to a huge Africa benefit that will take place in November that brings celebrities, editors, musicians, Nobel peace prize winners, diplomats and lots of media all together. The monies raised will benefit many charities across Africa including children living with HIV/AIDS. Its actually quite a great experience for me (since I work there) to witness all of this, especially all the beautiful handmade objects we sell and the wonderful stories behind its vast and amazing cultures....A must see and quite spectacular (maybe window) shopping experience for all your holiday gift-giving.

LUST LIST 2

I really, really LOVE this chair.

COVER CRAVE

Never the one to believe the mantra of "Don't judge a book by its cover", these GORGEOUS covers of first editions are really calling my name at the moment. Too lazy to read books, I am actually thinking of reading these as well...instead of just treating them as design objects...although there's nothing wrong with that in RAZ land! It is very much my look, the whole travel/adventure/exoticism topic as of current. So these tomes will be high on my search and prowl list in the coming days. LIVING FOR IT!

C A R A V A N E

Loving this newly (discovered) home furnishings company from France. It has the most cozy, understated and above all GORGEOUS home decor. Its sooo my style right now! Living for the northern African influence with a French edit. The stuff is sold to several stores in NYC including ABC Home and Calypso. Of course! Explore the site and see the video of its founder and her search for all things beautiful. A pleasure.  www.caravane.fr

ALL MAPPED OUT

always have been fascinated with maps, especially that of exotic islands...really loving these vintage maps as beautiful wall decor...they would be gorgeous in framed groupings. maps put a spell on me, as i have always been a lover of geography and world travel in general. i adore learning about faraway lands, cultures and customs...that sense of discovery and adventure is very alluring. running around like crazy here in nyc, makes me wanna just take a breather and really explore other worlds besides our own...perhaps my shoot "la isla" is a complete reflection of my current chain of thoughts, one reason i still continue to love taking pictures, its always been about beauty and fantasy for me, an exploration of an idea within my own mind...picture-making lets me escape from the grind of reality. maps are a great way to take that voyage to the unknown ends of the earth.... ( make sure to click on the maps above, so they may enlarge to really see the fine detail and beauty of these pieces)
