AFRICA AT ABC

Africa is the new look at ABC Home in New York City as it travels to its fascinating, tribal and mysterious lands. Paulette Cole, creative and chief operating officer, went to many different parts of this great continent this past summer and bought back some beautiful and unique items to sell and display in the legendary store. Hand-made baskets, textiles, pillows, pottery, masks as well as some smaller furniture items are all intermixed with other modern design pieces. The life-size dolls that hang as you come into the store are from a museum in South Africa and are shown here for the first time in the United States. All of this leads to a huge Africa benefit that will take place in November that brings celebrities, editors, musicians, Nobel peace prize winners, diplomats and lots of media all together. The monies raised will benefit many charities across Africa including children living with HIV/AIDS. Its actually quite a great experience for me (since I work there) to witness all of this, especially all the beautiful handmade objects we sell and the wonderful stories behind its vast and amazing cultures....A must see and quite spectacular (maybe window) shopping experience for all your holiday gift-giving.

Where is the bus with Rosa Parks?
Is there an underground railroad scene with Harriet Tubman going on in the basement?
